Add an MCP Server from MCP Catalog

Add an MCP server from the Model Context Protocol (MCP) Catalog in the AI Control Tower.

Before you begin

Role required: sn_ai_governance.ai_steward

Note: The AI steward (sn_ai_governance.ai_steward) role gets inherited with the following roles:

  • (AI admin) sn_aia.admin
  • (AIG admin) aig_admin
  • (MCP Client admin) sn_mcp_client.admin

Procedure

  1. Navigate to AI assets > AI asset inventory > MCP servers.

  2. Select Add.

  3. Select Choose from MCP Catalog.

  4. Search for a server using the search field, or browse available MCP servers displayed as cards with icons, descriptions, and versions.

  5. Verify the server to view the details including:

    • MCP server URL
    • Transport type
    • Available tools and capabilities
    • Import the server by selecting **Select**.

Note: The system auto-fills the Name, MCP server URL, Authentication type, and Transport type.

  6. Confirm your server and endpoint selections by selecting OK.

    Note: Add any additional details.

  7. Select Submit.

The MCP server is submitted to the AI steward for review.

Note: You can add only one MCP server at a time.

Result

The MCP server is added to AI Control Tower with the status of In review and synced to AI Agent Studio within 15 minutes.
