Create or modify a practice area

Create or modify practice areas for specific areas of law practice, such as Intellectual Property, Privacy, or Compliance.

Before you begin

Role required: sn_lg_ops.legal_config

Procedure

  1. Navigate to All > Legal Administration > Practice Areas.

  2. Click New.

  3. On the form, fill in the fields.

FieldDescription
NameUnique name of the practice area.
ActiveOption for making the practice area active. Legal requests can be submitted only for active practice areas.
Service catalog categoryName of the catalog category under which the new intake forms for the practice area are organized in the Legal Service Portal.Note: This field is applicable only if you use the Legal Service Portal for legal services. To enable legal services on the Employee Center, use the taxonomy mapping. For more information, see Legal services on the Employee Center portal.
DescriptionDescription of the practice area.
  1. Click Submit.

    The practice area is created and the Intake Forms and Practice Area Leads related lists are displayed.

  2. Add one or more users as the lead for the practice area.

    A practice area lead can view all unassigned requests related to the practice area and assign them to practice area members.

    1. In the Practice Area Leads related list, click Edit.

    2. On the Edit Members form, select one or more users from the Collection list and click Add to add them to the Practice Area Leads List.

      Only the users of the Legal Practice Area Leads group are listed in the Collection list.

    3. Click Save.

      The selected users are added to the Practice Area Leads related list.
